FEMINISM SINCE 1848

The ideology of the Left that deals with sexual and gender issues is Feminism. Feminism is the ruling ideology of America. In 1900 most Americans believed in what is called Traditionalism or traditional values. In 2000 most Americans believe in Feminism. In this book we will look at some of the leaders of the feminist movement and compare their arguments to those who have stood up for old-fashioned virtues. A key turning point in human history was the year 1848. In that year two revolutionary publications were printed that grew in influence until they crushed the long held views of society. In Europe, Marx and Engels published a little book called The Communist Manifesto and unknown to them Elizabeth Cady Stanton published her Declaration of Sentiments in Seneca Falls, New York. Today there is a monument in Seneca Falls, New York with those words engraved in a metal monument that millions of tourists have seen.

Marriages and families were far from perfect in 1848 and there were some laws and traditions that needed to be changed or ended. But mankind was growing spiritually and intellectually and would have corrected them in time. The problem with Marx, Engels and Stanton is that they threw the baby out with the bathwater. They went too far and were too impatient. They didn't see any good and their ideas to make things better only ended up making things worse.

FAMILY VALUES

There is a lot of talk about family values. Politicians often use the phase "family values" and push for legislation or try to persuade others to live by principles they believe will bring happiness to individuals and will bring strength and prosperity to America. Sometimes the debates between the two camps becomes angry and vociferous. In some cases, deranged people even become violent. Tragically, some mentally unbalanced souls have killed doctors at abortion clinics. The biggest tragedy is that each side has made legislation that forces everyone to pay for and be exposed to their views of what is right and wrong. Even if those on the side of truth enact legislation that forces people to do right, they have done a far more evil than if they had just left people alone to be free to do what is wrong.

For example, the motivation of the Right to make prostitution illegal is well meaning and they are right in seeing it as a sin. But it is a greater sin to force people to be good. Of course, some laws and punishments are necessary. Murder, rape and fraud are examples of behaviors that must be punished. But many laws that the Right and the Left impose on people do more harm than good. God's way is persuasion. In our book, Freedom Works, we advocate a political view called Libertarianism for domestic issues. We do not endorse the Libertarian Party's view on national defense, but on domestic issues they are generally right in giving people maximum freedom. That said, we still find the religious Conservatives being the most on target when it comes to marriage and family. We find some of their books and authors to be correct on how men and women are to live by Godly values taught in the Bible and in many of the other sacred texts.

Many of the writers and social critics of the Right are often not religious. They are secular humanists. We find their view of the universe to be very wrong. Some on the Left are affiliated with some religious belief, but they too miss the boat on what true spirituality is when it comes to men and women's roles. In this book we will look at some feminist theologians. The gap between the feminists and anti-feminists or the traditionalists and anti-traditionalists is so great that there is very little, if anything, of substance to the many arguments of the Left for alternative lifestyles. And there is so much that is true in what the Right teaches about family values that the only way for the two sides to make unity if for the Left to eventually wake up to the common sense of Biblical values.

Truth is often in the minority and goes through so much persecution and ridicule, but it always wins out in the end. The old Soviet Union seemed invincible but since it was built on a bankrupt ideology it eventually fell. The same will be for feminism. One day the feminists will wake up and it will be come crumbling down, just as the Berlin Wall came down. The experiment of Communism and Socialism failed. The Feminist experiment that America and the West has tried for over a hundred years will eventually be seen as a failure too. This will happen sooner instead of later if those on the side of truth will stand up to the avalanche of books and media attention given to feminism.

REBELLION

What is feminism? There are many definitions. In this book we analyze the different meanings of the word. To begin with, we will define it as a rebellion from God. Of course, Feminists think the Traditionalists are the rebellious ones. But the truth is that Marx, Engels and Stanton are rebels without a good cause. Just because they say they are sensitive and see problems does not make their solution correct. It is easy to point out imperfections. It is difficult to do the right thing. A fatal flaw in Marx, Engels and Stanton was to reject the essential teachings in the Bible for how men and women are to relate to each other in marriages and families. In their zeal to make things better they made things a thousand times worse. And as things kept getting worse, they felt the solution to the problems they caused would be more of the same.

Eventually feminism will be seen as the emperor with no clothes on. It is a philosophy that fights the nature of man. It fights God's plan for human happiness. It fights against common sense. In other words, feminism does not work. Traditional family values work. We can prove it. Compare the marriages and families of the writers of books who teach old-fashioned, Biblical values to those expert writers and leaders of feminism that we quote. Those leaders on the Right who teach and live by Biblical values have far more happy marriages and families than those on the Left. In fact, there are some influential leaders of feminism that have no marriage, no children and no family at all. One writer said, "Everyone wants a satisfying life-long marriage, but what are the secrets to finding and maintaining that kind of happiness? Chairman Beverly LaHaye believes that 'because marriage was God's idea, He has given clear directions for making it work.' Following God's plan has certainly worked for her and Dr. Tim LaHaye -- next year they will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary." ... "The secrets to a successful marriage are laid out in the very essence of the Gospel. Christ is our example. In Ephesians 5:25, Paul exhorts, 'Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it.'"

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. This book is not about some esoteric thoughts that have nothing to do with everyday life. We write about the most important thing in life -- love. We all want love. Beverly LaHaye writes in her book, The Desires of a Woman's Heart that you will not find true love in following the teachings of Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique. Her book should be titled, The Feminine Mistake. There is nothing feminine nor mystique about Friedan. There is only tragedy. The result of Friedan is actress Marlo Thomas reading her book with excitement, creating a popular TV show of a single girl who does not get married (That Girl) and then never having children in her real life. Countless women have followed her example and suffered for it. The result of Friedan and her feminist crusaders is massive unhappiness. The result of LaHaye and her traditionalists crusaders is massive happiness. The authors know this personally. We have lived both ideologies. Our life was miserable when we organized our life around the principles taught by feminists. We found happiness in true love from wonderful men like George Gilder and Aubrey Andelin who write what a true man is. We found joy beyond our ability to express from wonderful women like Helen Andelin and Elizabeth Hanford.

The words of Stanton and Engels are diabolical. They reject the beautiful teachings of the Bible that have brought sublime marital bliss to countless couples. In Stanton's Declaration she writes these evil words: "He [meaning men] has usurped the prerogative of Jehovah himself, claiming it as his right to assign for her a sphere of action." No "he" hasn't. Stanton had it good. Her husband loved her. She had many children, servants and a big house. She was simply rebellious and jealous of something she shouldn't have been. She should have been happy in her "sphere" instead of wanting to play outside the rules. The Bible tells the story of Eve who didn't want to play by the rules. God's rules make sense. When mankind violates them, all hell breaks loose. Stanton worked for 50 years on her anti-Bible crusade. She was like a Pandora's box that brought untold suffering to millions of households who were to embrace her deadly ideology. She even rewrote the Bible to sound feminist. It is called The Woman's Bible.

Stanton's husband would not attend her meeting on that historical day in 1848 at her Women's Rights Convention. The seeds of division and the horror of the battle of the sexes that would come from her deeds were planted in her very own marriage when she embarked on her rebellious revolution. She is the one who "usurped" the authority of "Jehovah." She took God out of the home. Her diatribe against men was the beginning of unfair male bashing that is the norm today: "He has endeavored, in every way that he could, to destroy her confidence in her own powers, to lessen her self-respect, and to make her willing to lead a dependent and abject life."

She writes, "women do feel themselves aggrieved, oppressed." What about men? We are all in this together and men have suffered just as much as women. "The history of mankind is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations on the part of man toward woman, having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over her." The truth is that the "history of mankind is a history of repeated injuries ... on the part of" men and women suffering together under "absolute tyranny." She neglects to thank the millions of men who gave life and limb for their womenfolk not to receive "injuries" from evil men. George Washington's men died and suffered at Valley Forge to make a country a safer place for women. What did Washington get for it? His mother fought him and sided with the British. Women's libbers are obsessed with their pain. Cut a man and he bleeds too. Countless women have hurt good men throughout human history. Women do not have a monopoly on being suffering, victimized saints.

She ends by saying the determination of feminists is total. You can feel the dedication in her words. You can feel the same passion in Marx, Engels and Lenin also. She wrote: "In entering upon the great work before us, we anticipate no small amount of misconception, misrepresentation, and ridicule; but we shall use every instrumentality without our power to effect our object. We shall employ agents, circulate tracts, petition the State and National legislatures, and endeavor to enlist the pulpit and the press on our behalf. We hope this Convention will be followed by a series of Conventions embracing every part of the country." Feminists have worked hard ever since and now the tables are turned and they are the mainstream.

Stanton writes, "That woman has too long rested satisfied in the circumscribed limits which corrupt customs and a perverted application of the Scriptures have marked out for her, and that it is time she should move in the enlarged sphere which her great Creator has assigned her." This is projection. It is Stanton who writes a "perverted application of the Scriptures" and is rebelling against the boundaries God gave for women. God's rules are like the rules in a basketball game or card game. It gives order so that there can be creativity and joy. Stop signs are not something negative that "limits" people in driving a car. It brings order instead of chaos. Stanton rejects God's rules and regulations. She rejects the rules in the game of life. Run a red light and see where it gets you. Reject God's laws of the universe and see where it gets you.

She wrote, "any work outside the home placed a stigma on the worker." In God's ideal women are supposed to be homeworkers and not compete with men in the marketplace. Feminism wants to end all shame or guilt for people who violate God's Divine Order.
